Cult-status manga artist Yamamoto Hideo’s same-named manga hits the silver screen a decade after its serialized began. International director Shimizu Takashi handles this psychological mystery with daring yet sensitive portrayals of mental states.
Social outcast Nakoshi (Ayano Go) is missing his memories and emotions and lives out of a car. The eccentrically attired medical student Ito Manabu (Narita Ryo) suddenly shows up and asks him to get trepanation surgery, which involves drilling holes in a person’s skull. Nakoshi is persuaded by Ito and gets the surgery.
