麻雀女流プロの二階堂亜樹が原案を担当した自伝的コミック「aki」を、雑誌モデルや「仮面ライダー1号」などで女優としても活躍する岡本夏美主演で実写映画化。雀荘で生まれ育ち、15歳の冬にボストンバッグひとつで東京にやってきたアキ。大都会の厳しさ、汚れた大人たちの現実に直面しながら、彼女の唯一の武器である「麻雀」で生きていくことを決意する。そんな彼女の人生と麻雀を大きく変えることとなるのが、少女雀士・ひまわり、そしてミスター麻雀・小島武夫との出会いだった。監督は「太陽を掴め」の中村祐太郎。
