【解説】
落語家･立川志の輔の同名落語をもとに、『東京タワー オカンとボクと、時々、オトン』で2007年日本アカデミー賞監督賞に輝いた松岡錠司が映画化したハートフル･コメディ。音楽は『レッドクリフpart1』の岩代太郎が担当。
12月30日、文化会館に一本の電話がかかってくる。電話を受けた主任・飯塚（小林薫）の返事に、部下・加藤（伊藤淳史）は凍りつく。似た名前の２つのコーラス・サークルを同じ団体と勘違いし、大晦日の日に両方のイベントの予約を受け付けていたのだ。飯塚は双方の責任者を呼び出して、話をつけようとするが、どちらも譲らない。時間を変更してもらおうとするが失敗。女遊びが原因で妻に見限られた上、強請られていたこともあって、公私共に行き詰まった飯塚だったが、一方のグループリーダーの五十嵐（安田成美）に提案された“合同コンサート”案の実現に奔走。数々の障害を乗り越えた翌日、文化ホールには「歓喜の歌」の大コーラスが響くのだった。

Chief Iizuka, who works at the Cultural Center, misunderstands two chorus groups with similar names and double-books the concert hall on New Year’s Eve. Although they talk to each other, neither of them gives up a step and develops into a big problem. Iizuka, who has lived his life with a “no-nonsense” attitude, finds himself in the middle of two groups and at a loss for words.

[ Story ]
A rakugo story by a rakugo comic story teller, Tatekawa Shinosuke, has been adapted to a heart-warming comedy by Matsuoka Joji, who won Director of the Year at the 2007 Japan Academy Prize for his TOKYO TOWER: Mom & Me, and Sometimes Dad. Music is by Iwashiro Taro of Red Cliff.
On December 30th, a telephone call comes in to a local cultural center. The manager of the center, Iizuka (Kobayashi Kaoru) takes the call. Hearing his response, Kato (Ito Atsushi), his staff member, freezes as he realizes that the center is double booked by mistake for the New Year’s eve for two events by two choir groups which have confusingly similar names. Iizuka summons those in charge for both choirs to sort it out, but neither backs down. An option to change the time is also declined. Iizuka is stuck both publicly and privately as he has been dumped by his wife for womanizing and also been blackmailed, but when a joint concert is suggested by Igarashi (Yasuda Narumi), the leader of one of the groups, Iizuka exerts himself to make it happen. The following day, having overcome a number of difficulties, the chorus of “Ode to Joy” echoes in the concert hall at the center.
