[ Story ]
Keiko Midorikawa is a member of an organization which gives advice and assistance to juvenile delinquents.
Nobuo Kasahara, just released from reform school to which he was committed for having attempted to kill his father is 19 years of age and seems to have a grudge against society, and the only person to whom he shows tenderness is Kazue Sugita, friend of his schooldays and now a school teacher who is the sole support of her widowed mother.
When Keiko meets Nobuo he takes her to a cabaret filled with jazz-crazy teen-agers, forces her to drink and after losing consciousness she finds herself alone with him in a disreputable hotel room.
Keiko, realizing what a dangerous character she is trying to reform, consults Kazue, and despite the fact that Nobuo becomes more violent than ever and takes up with a barmaid named Nanako, determines to reform him. Influenced by Kazue, Nobuo does try to find work, but his police record for violence, although he has never been a thief, is against him.
Finding that Nobuo has a talent for drawing, Keiko persuades Kazue to buy him tools, and he starts to draw and sell his portraits in the street, and at last seems to have found happiness.
But Kazue now falls into the clutches of Kajita, leader of a gang of ruffians, who nearly succeeds in violating her before she is saved by the police.
One of the gangsters tries to place the blame on Nobuo who is unable to convince the police of his innocence because of his past record. He is finally released on the testimony of Keiko who feels that she has succeeded in her task when she sees Nobuo and Kazue arm in arm, their faces radiating happiness,
